All involved in the construction trade have long been aware that ‘you’re only as good as your tools’. The resin bound stone industry is no different to that. Any professional in the field would be aware that the only way to achieve optimum results is by using the correct equipment.
It is vital that the resin and aggregate are mixed properly to ensure a top quality finish however, time and time again we see clients that have been unsuspectingly duped by cowboy builders using concrete mixers as opposed to the vital forced action mixers that are crucial to the success of these projects.
Whilst it may appear that these machines do the same job, it could not be further from the truth. Using a cement mixer means that the mix itself will be inconsistent and therefore difficult to trowel and results in a poor finish – this does not only mean an aesthetically poor finish – areas will inevitably not be laid to the correct depth and will ultimately cause erosion.
It is always wise to be vigilant when instructing a contractor for these kinds of works so be sure to keep your eye out for the mixers in question. You can find examples of forced action mixers in our shop.
